Goodbye little bug...

Moving house brings lots of changes, not least of which is accepting that as I no longer have three dogs and a hoard of children to cart around I should think about changing my car.

My cars have history. (I keep them so long, how can they fail to have history!?!)

Children have learned to drive in 'the bug' and minimus famously knocked down our new garden wall during one of her first driving exploits in our large gravelled yard.
One of my darling dogs died in the back of 'the bug' on the way to the vet...

The sprogs may deride it and call it 'the family skip', but I've loved my bug and shall eat a large bar of chocolate to console myself when it is finally driven away.

Thank you all for your lovely comments regarding friendship... they've given me an idea, which I am going to research- not a writing idea, but something nice for all of us... shan't say any more until I find out if it's feasible or not.

Meanwhile, the sun is shining and revisions are waiting... but I love my H and h, so missing a little sunshine for their sakes isn't so bad.

Love to all, and happy reading everyone!
Susan

I know exactly where you're coming from as I've actually been known to cry when I've had to say goodbye to a car that I've loved. The last "much loved" car I had to give up was a J reg Sierra. Most people would scoff at even owning one (this was about 3 years ago so it'd grown old) but I knew that car so well and, as you say, it had memories. After that came a Rover that I hated and now I have a Renault Scenic which I also hate. Somebody, please give me back my Sierra! ~Sharon J

Oh, how sad, but will there be a new car??? I have only had 2 cars before this one : a two tone Hillman Minx, with real red leather seats and 3 gear stick shift on the steering column, that was older than me!!and a Gemini. My current Lancer stationwagon is really The Labradors' car. None of my cars have been green, and though they haven't had names, they have given solid and stalwart service. Vale Little Bug.....

I, too, had to give up a car I loved many years ago; a Datsun B210. I had bought it with my own money and hard work and it was reliable.
