Taking a break...
Had to take a break today... am re-balancing book, which is author speak for lots of juicy revisions. The eds are always right- they can see if there's too much flour in the cake or too much fat, but it means one heck of a lot of work and of course, I need a break from time to time.
What do I do? Apart from drink hot chocolate, that is! (need lots of comfort food- mashed potato etc for supper tonight!) I play the piano. And it occurred to me that if I didn't play the piano my life wouldn't be half as rich as it is. The ability to make music is something I cherish- so to all of you out there with young sprogs- get them playing an instrument- you will never regret it, and neither will they.
To those of you who are interested in such things I was playing pieces by Debussy... though having heard a recording on BBC Radio 3 of Alfred Brendel playing pieces by Mendelssohn as I was driving along in the car today I reckon I've still got a long way to go!!! And to think he must have started with the same simple scales as me!!
Oh, boy.
Love to all, and happy reading everyone!
