Lightbulb moment...
Why I trust my editors...
Because it isn't what my H and h do it's how they react to each situation, how they feel inside, what makes them tick, what they learn from each other's reactions to various challenges.
Particularly in short books I think it's important not to have too many events going on, but to concentrate your efforts as a writer in examining the motives, actions and thoughts of the main protagonists.
Do they learn? Have they grown? Are the two of them together bigger than the sum of their individual qualities?
Have they taken a journey?
