Sorry, Jane B... can't give you first line of the book I'm working on right now- but how about this line from my very first book, The Spanish Inheritance (Uttered by the altogether reprehensible Ramon...)

And Ruth- tonight I am not eating chocolate, so please don't worry about me... (though I'm incredibly flattered that you do!!!) I'm having grilled ham and pineapple with cauliflower cheese, carrots, creamy mashed potato, and crispy, crunchy broccoli. YUM... All courtesy, of course of my adorable Aga, which to those of you who are not familiar with this great cast iron beast, is an enormous comfort in winter when it throws out heat non-stop.

No, none of this is bought in packets with loads of unhealthy additives, and yes I really do love cooking, and bedsocks- not cooking bedsocks- wearing them...though not in bed...
This is getting far too complicated, so I'm going back to the writing cave now-
